About New Union (social liberals)

 

New Union - Naujoji sąjunga,  is a social liberal party in Lithuania. The New Union is member of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party and is an observer at Liberal International. It was founded back in 1998 and is led by Artūras Paulauskas.

 

Our policy is based on the social liberal ideology, the principal values of which are personal freedom, social solidarity, welfare of people and justice.

 

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Coherently and continuously working for the sake of people of Lithuania we gained the rightful share in Lithuanian political scene. New Union (social liberals) has started the movement as prophet of New Politics offering a model of governing based on the social liberal values.

 

Our party members took part in solving most important issues for the country and its people – in the year 2000 New Union formed stable Government and began much-needed economy and State government reforms, efectively reformed Social security system, our political will to implement needed changes brought Lithuania to European Union and NATO, we enacted „Codex of conduct for Politicians“, decreased income tax to 24%. And it is only a small share of achievements of New Union in the last ten years.   At this point we are courageously looking to the future and offer SOCIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES programme for Lithuania.

 

New Union Parlamentry fraction is influencial member of ruling coalition, it is consisted of 10 members, while Chairman of the Party Mr. A.Paulauskas is a Minister of Environment. Party has branches in all municipalities of Lithuania and maoyrs in three of them – Trakai, Švenčionys and Kalvarija.
